¿WHO IS MARIANA ARGUETA?
Born in Mexico City. She is a graduate with the Highest Honors from the Faculty of Music of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where she completed her Bachelor’s Degree under the chair of the renowned maestro Juan Carlos Laguna. She has received awards including the “National Yamaha Guitar Contest for soloists, 2006” in Mexico City, “National Yamaha Guitar Contest for ensembles 2007”, the “Second Contest for female guitar players” XII Sonora International Guitar Festival, 2015 while attending master-classes with musicians such as Thibaut García (France), Oman Kaminsky (Mexico), Horacio Franco (Mexico), Ricardo Pauletti (Brazil), Vladimir Gorbach (Russia), Hopkinson Smith (EU), among others.
She was part of the jury in the 2016 edition of the International Women of Sonora Contest. She has performed as a soloist with the most important guitar orchestra in Mexico, the “Xalapa Guitar Orchestra”, interpreting the Manuel M. Ponce. Her concert career includes participating in various places in the capital of the Mexican Republic, among which stand out: Nezahualcóyotl Hall and Simón Bolívar Amphitheater of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Silvestre Revueltas Hall of the Ollin Yoliztli Cultural Center, the Diego Rivera Mural Museum , Casa del Lago UNAM, among others.
