During the concert you will listen to the virtuosity and popular Spanish themes of the harpsichord music by Domenico Scarlatti; the grief and sobbing of the last chant of the Austro-Hungarian composer – contemporary of Franz Liszt – J. K. Mertz; spirituality made sound in the baroque dances for the magical thousand-string artifact – the lute – by Johann Sebastian Bach; a Beethoven symphony on guitar, passing through melismas, flamenco quejíos and the sound of an Afro-Cuban ritual by the hand of the Cuban genius Leo Brouwer; and the Variations and Fugue on Las Folías de España, a musical monument composed of the father of Mexican nationalism Manuel M. Ponce – author of Estrellita and many of the most beloved popular songs for Mexicans of the early 20th century.

Oman Kaminsky – guitarra


Maestro Omán Kaminsky Lara is one of the most prominent Mexican guitarists on the international scene. He has to his credit more than two hundred public presentations, he has offered concerts in more than 20 countries around the world, including the most important halls, such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Concertgebow in Amsterdam, or the Palace of Fine Arts of the Mexico City. He studied a degree in Guitar at the School of Music of the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature, graduating with the highest honors. With the support of the prestigious Dutch HSP Huygens scholarship, Oman continued postgraduate studies at the “Koninklijk Conservatorium” (Royal Conservatory) in The Hague, specializing in Guitar and Chamber Music. Later, thanks to the FONCA-CONACYT Scholarship Program for Studies Abroad, he studied a second master’s degree with a specialty in Music Pedagogy, at the same Dutch conservatory. Upon his return to Mexico, after living 6 years in Europe, Master Kaminsky joined the most important schools of music in Mexico as an academic, teaching guitar at the Faculty of Music at UNAM, Escuela Superior de Música at INBAL and the Life and Movement School of the Ollin Yoliztly Cultural Center.

He has performed at international guitar symposia and festivals in Mexico and abroad; offering recitals, lectures and master classes, sharing his musical work with new generations of musicians. He is a founding member of the “Sensemayá” Guitar Quartet, with which he constantly dabbles in chamber music. He has participated as a soloist with important orchestras in Mexico and the Netherlands such as OFUNAM, OSSLA, OSUG, OFEQ, Zwolle Philharmonic Orchestra and the NJO of Holland.

He has published 4 recordings, produced in Serbia, Spain and Mexico, thus spreading the music of Mexico and Latin America written for classical guitar.

Thanks to its guitar virtuosity and musical expressiveness, Oman has been awarded first prizes in more than 30 international guitar competitions; in Mexico, the United States of America, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. Due to his reputation as a guitarist, he has been invited to be part of qualifying juries for international guitar competitions in Mexico, the Netherlands, Romania and the United States. As a product of his work and as a proud representative of Mexican guitar in the world, the President of the Mexican Republic awarded him the National Youth Award for artistic activities 2007. For his contributions to culture, the UNAM recently awarded him the REDUNJA award , which is the highest recognition that this institution grants to its young academics.

By virtue of his outstanding career and the impact of his work, the master Oman Kaminsky Lara is a proud representative of artistic creation and culture in Mexico and in the world.
